Irrevocable Spousal Lifetime Access Trust (SLAT)

Life & Health advisor published Russell Towers’ article, “Irrevocable Spousal Lifetime Access Trust ”, in January of 2015. This article explains that a drawback to the typical Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust (ILIT) is that both your client and their spouse lose direct access to the policy cash values during their lifetime. But, the article goes on to explain that an Irrevocable “Spousal Lifetime Access Trust” (I-SLAT) can be used to overcome that common drawback.
