Life Insurance as a Special Asset Class in a Diversified Portfolio

As many estate owners who had a portfolio of financial assets during the bear market of 2007-2009 know, they are always exposed to an underlying market risk and interest rate risk. These risks are inherent in owning these types of assets. Russell Towers, BSMG’s Vice President of Business and Estate Planning, explains in Broker World’s May 2012 issue how a balanced portfolio approach, through the technique of reallocating a portion of their assets, can prove helpful for the future. Towers describes how a portfolio can be balanced with “fixed” financial assets or tax-free “leveraged fixed assets”.
