Traditional Stand-Alone LTC

May be an affordable way to cover LTC expenses because it requires lower premiums each year to cover large expenses in the future. Inflation protection is available so benefits will increase each year as the cost of care rises. Premiums are not guaranteed on this product, therefore the cost can, and most likely will, increase over time.

Asset-Based or Hybrid Policy

Offers considerable flexibility. May be a fit for people who want something in exchange for premium dollars and don’t like the “use it or lose it” aspect of stand-alone LTC policies. Pays LTC expenses or a death benefit if care is never needed. Offers inflation protection and return of premium feature if clients have a change of heart.

Life Insurance with an LTC Rider

Can be a more cost-effective option than purchasing a traditional LTC or hybrid policy. The rider allows access to the policy’s death benefit to cover LTC expenses. This option comes with a greater underwriting emphasis on mortality, but might be considered more favorable because it’s not “if” the benefits will be paid, it’s “when”.
